About Bitcoin palindrome blocks
What is a palindrome block?
Every block on the Bitcoin blockchain has a number, its block height. A new block is added roughly every ten minutes. A palindrome block is one whose height reads the same forwards and backwards, like 975579 or 1000001.
How often does one happen?
Right now there's about one every 1,000 to 1,100 blocks, so roughly once a week. Sometimes they come much closer: after block 999999, the next one is 1000001, just two blocks later. That stays about the same until block 10,000,000 (around the 2190s), when the gaps grow to as much as 11,000 blocks, about two and a half months.
Does it mean anything?
No. It has no technical meaning for Bitcoin. Is it fun to watch for anyway? Yes.
